So, What Exactly is a "shafung?" A Little About Me.

Hi!
I’m Shannon Ryals. I have many hobbies, but I have not mastered anything. I am 99.9% sure that my family likes me though. That’s something. I have a hot husband named Michael and two girls – Madi, almost 4 and Abby 1 ½ going on 12.

I’ve worked many jobs ranging from retail, where I helped Asian and Europeans find the right size Levis, to a cruise hostess, where I hosted hairy chest competitions and taught napkin folding. I settled down after college and have worked in marketing for ten years! That just made me sound old.
Oh well, anyway, I felt a calling that I need to be at home more so I just quit my corporate job. I feel good about my decision, but I want to continue to write and have a creative outlet and maybe a place to rant too. I doubt my children will want to hear me 24/7.

I want this blog to not only be a place of my ramblings, but more importantly a resource for Tri-Cities residents to know what there is to do around the area. This region is a place of adventure, and I’ll help you find it.  Just in case you're wondering, "shafung" is a Yiddish word meaning "creation," and "Shannonanigans"--well that's just some clever wordplay on my name and shenanigans, which I think sums me up pretty well.

My Sweet Family

This was me as a baby! I was pretty cute. Not child model cute, but no one recoiled in horror when they saw me. I love being outside and hiking the great mountains in our area.

Look at this man! Stop looking, I get jealous easy. Just kidding, not really. Anyway, seriously, this man is my soulmate. He is a male version of me but maybe funnier and a much better cook. We are celebrating our 8th anniversary this year. We married quickly before he left for Iraq, but that is a story for another time.

Look at those eyes. They will melt your heart and stare a hole through you. They are pools of emotions. This baby girl is my first born and my miracle baby. I was told I wouldn’t have children, well surprise, I have two. Madi is a combination of a girly girl/tomboy. I really think it depends on the weather and if she’s hungry or not.

This girl can light up a room with her smile. I don’t even get worried if I hear “Oh no!” come out of her mouth because she’s just so gosh darn cute!

Well that's a little bit about me, now how about you? Are you ready to start this blogventure with me?
